Ovarian cancer Awareness Month
Hello friends,
It finished today. After 9 months, 21 treatments, 7 cycles, 3 abdominal taps, a port placement, and debulking surgery; my mom faith1962 is now classified as NED.
9 months, the average time of gestation.
9th month, September, ovarian cancer awareness month.
9 months, the longest and hardest journey I have ever taken.
Ovarian Cancer is the most deadly gynecological disease, though it does not have to be. At early stages, survival from ovarian cancer is very high, however, due to lack of awareness, only about 20% of individuals are diagnosed at an early stage.
On September 17th, I am participating in a 5k to help “Break the Silence on Ovarian Cancer.” This walk is to bring awareness to the disease and to create further treatment options.
If possible, I ask you to support my team in bringing awareness to this disease; if not, please familiarize yourself with the symptoms of ovarian cancer.
At the end of the day, you know your body more than anyone else. Do not be afraid to seek multiple opinions due to your symptoms. There is no stronger advocate than yourself.
